This project commenced in March 2022 and reached successful completion in March 2023, spanning a 12-month period. The site was formerly occupied by the Aberdeen Press and Journal, owned by DC Thomson, and included a range of structures such as offices, studios, and the historic Printing Press Hall.
The scope of works involved the comprehensive removal of asbestos from all buildings scheduled for demolition. Following this, we carried out the full demolition of all structures, including the removal of foundations and underbuildings.
The project was delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with all tender specifications. Notably, there were no Health and Safety incidents throughout the duration of the works.
A key challenge was the requirement to maintain the Brightsolid Data Centre as fully operational throughout the project. This necessitated careful planning and execution, particularly during demolition activities in close proximity to live infrastructure—challenges which were successfully managed and overcome. This project stands as another example of David Morton Ltd’s commitment to excellence in project delivery, safety, and client satisfaction.
